Big Ideas by the Sea 2024

As part of Big Ideas by the Sea in Scarborough, Martha and Jonathan who run Photo Scarborough did a talk about their findings so far.

It happened on Sat 18 May 2024, 3:00PM - 4:00PM in the setting of St Martins Church, Scarborough’s Pre-Raphaelite masterwork, which is opposite the site where Oliver Sarony’s large photo studio used to sit (now a council run carpark).

The talk outlined how people were taking photographers in studios and on the beach in Scarborough, and who was taking photographs, including the largely unacknowledged women photographers. We are open to doing talks in the future so do just drop us a message, our research is always continuing to grow!
