Henry Osguthorpe (c.1840-1883)
Henry Osguthorpe is known to have worked as a photographer in Sheffield during 1867-8. He was working from a studio in Castle Road from 1871 and later in New Road/Vernon Road.
Listed in 1872 as Asguthorpe. His wife Mary Ann took over his photography studio when he died. One of his son’s worked at Londesborough Theatre, and later used his parent’s studio address when advertising his services to other theatres. Two sons, Harry (b.1864) and Herbert (1869-1954) had been born in Sheffield, had a photographic business (The Osguthorpe Bros.) in Spennymoor, County Durham, from c.1900, called the Tudor Grange Studio. By 1911 they were recorded as the with premises at 18 King Street, Spennymoor. Harry had married Annie in Scarborough early in 1901, but by the time of the census the same year were already lodging in Spennymoor. Herbert married Elizabeth Smith (born in West Rainton, County Durham) in Spennymoor in 1897. There address on the census in 1901 was Edward Street, Spennymoor and in 1911 at 18 King Street. They had two sons John Alfred (1898-1916, Battle of Jutland) and Herbert (b.1905).
